Our Robert Trent Jones II Renovation is complete! Construction officially ended in November 2014 with holes #1-6, #9, #10 and #18 preparing for initial play. All of the turf has been eliminated and the greens have been rebuilt to USGA standards. Bunkers have been re-adjusted/added and redesigned with key drainage and irrigation elements redone to keep the new fairways beautiful all year long.
While remaining the most beautiful walking course in Contra Costa County, this nearly 90 year old gem is being polished to once again be a great course for all levels of player. While length is not an issue, lower handicappers must be precise as shot making demands are tested here.
Below are the new #8 & #9 greens being constructed with a little more room on the left side (#8) and right side (#9). A new bunker has been added in the back of #9. The bunker on the right of #9 is a little smaller, but the collection area around it will make it a gathering area. The #9 green and fairway was seeded in July 2014 and should be ready to play in early 2015.
Below is a peek at the new #18 green design from RTJII. You'll see right away it is positioned directly around the beautiful cork oak tree. Notice the larger bunker on the left, all the way to the back of the green. But there is a little more room in the front for those of us who need to bounce it up the green on this long hole.
The design changes are so exciting, making the course enjoyable for players of all levels. Work is nearly finished on the 12th & 17th holes; the 2 biggest design changes to CCCC.
Native grass plantings will be in place throughout most of the course. Again, we plan on the course and driving range/practice area renovation being done at the end of November, 2014, with full opening in May of 2015.
